The craigslist ad says FD Cage, Formula Drift spec, yeah?

In my opinion this would be a novelty build. Wagons carry so much weight up top, and the archaic AWD system is the epitome of parasitic loss... and then there is the question of robustness, or lack thereof. These can be conquered, but at what cost to be competitive?

I had wanted to keep my 2000 after it got wrecked, but logistics did not work out. Is it ideal for track/race use? No, but it would have been fun and a bit different. It was a rwd/5MT car, though, so it was better suited to the concept.

Kinda odd someone got to that point and them bailed 9n the project. Maybe they underestimated the cost and time? It's an interesting find and I'd be curious to see where/how it ends up.

Don't want to sound like a hater either, I would just think its a tough project to buy off someone and continue. But I also have no knowledge about track builds.

I'd think any buyer would just get rid of the AWD system

1992 BMW E30 Touring - $16000
1992 1992 BMW 316i Touring
condition: excellent
cylinders: 4 cylinders
drive: rwd
fuel: gas
odometer: 83000
paint color: green
size: compact
title status: clean
transmission: manual
1992 BMW 316i Touring

The time has come to sell this low mileage E30 touring to its next owner. This car was imported from Germany in 2016 with about 79,000 original miles. After three years of refurbishment and use around the Pacific Northwest, the car now has just over 83,000 miles. It has been lovingly refurbished to bring it to the level of a reliable and enjoyable vehicle. After import, title and registration the car was driven approximately 5,000 kilometers attending car shows and club events. The functioning odometer now shows 134,XXX kilometers (83,XXX Miles). That is the true and original mileage on the vehicle; confirmed by the original owners statements and undeniable condition. All photographed records, German registration documents, and service booklets will be included in the sale.

We have repaired and maintained many systems on this touring since import. The coolant, engine oil, brake fluid, air, fuel and oil filters are all new. The body and paint are in very good condition on this car. The undercarriage is clean and has survived the salty roads of the german winters with minimal rust. This touring came from the factory with smiley ellipsoid headlights, European bumper trim, rear cargo cover, first aid kit, safety triangle, two tone (vinyl & cloth) interior. These features add to the look and rarity of this beautiful low mileage E30.

Some of the repairs and improvements performed during the last three years include:

Top end engine overhaul (New head gasket, timing belt, tensioner, camshaft, lifters and fan clutch installed. Cylinder head skimmed and assembled by machine shop before install, cylinder head re-torqued after 1500 kilometers)
New OEM Idle control valve, coolant temp sensors, intake boot, spark plugs
Exhaust overhaul (OEM muffler, exhaust hangers, manifold gasket, exhaust flange gaskets and factory muffler tip installed)
Installed refinished 15" OEM Euroweave wheels
Headliner replacement
Driver and passenger seats repaired with original BMW fabric
Rust remediation (Passenger fender replaced with new OEM part from BMW, rear hatch, front and rear valance painted and blended in
Lagunengrün-metallic)
New front and rear BMW roundels (OEM).

Contact for more pictures or for further inquiries. We have many more pictures of the vehicle that we are happy to share with potential buyers. Buyer is expected to pay a $1,000 deposit via PayPal within 24 hours of purchase. The full purchase price is to be paid by wire transfer or cash within 72 hours. We ship vehicles around the world and are happy to help have this car delivered. Any and all delivery fees will be the responsibility of the buyer. Vehicle is available for inspection 7 days per week in PORTLAND, OREGON. We can also take the car to a local independent BMW mechanic for a pre purchase inspection at the buyers expense.

I hope it doesn't sell because no way is it worth that. There have been M3 swamped E46 tourings that have sold close to that price (not that they could be built for that). As cool as an E30 is, it's not that cool.

I agree. At the absolute high end, I think this is maybe an 11-12k car. Possibly 9-10k depending on how soft the market is.

Steep for a 1.6l that has had rust remediation. That color is sweet though.

A friend of my wife went to look at the gold/tan one a few months back and said it's over priced for the condition/options, despite the mileage. And the seller isn't willing to budge on the price.

The 323i/dog mobile has just about every light under the sun on on the dash. Even @ $2k, that car is rough body-wise, and the lights don't scream "well maintained" as the seller claims.

I swear a few of those look familiar, but all posts are current.
That is a good group of candidates.

The gold one reminds me of the 43K mile car in the Cleveland area that I was interested in a year ago. I posted pictures of the horrible underside.

This is the one my wife's friend looked at and said it presents much better in pics than it does in person.

I think that one was for sale a few weeks ago as there was a black on black car with the lower section of bumper missing and I think it had that Markert sticker on the rear window. If it is, it had a salvaged title and was priced at $1850 obo, I inquired about it before finding out about the title.
