Any shop or mobile service that can flash used ecu to car?

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for a shop or mobile tech in the greater Seattle that can flash a used ecu to an e46. Our normal guy fell through and is not available, and we need to get this car back to its owner by tomorrow.

Thank you in advance!

Fin

The only way to "reflash" a MS45.1 is getting a EWS and DME set. Do you have one?

Thanks for the info, is that specific to the MS45.1 vs MS43? We don't deal with electronics on customer cars, its just that this one came in with a misfire, and we traced it to a shorted ecu, the lines for cyl 6 were burnt.

We figured we could swap the ecu and have the computer guy come and flash it, we've had that done before on an e53. Is this not possible on the e46 ecu?

E53 is MS43.
MS43 would be considered older technology and it has been publicly cracked so the files are available on the internet. MS45.1 on the other hand is like newer BMW dme's and is more complex and isn't publicly cracked.
Each DME and EWS is paired with a specific ISN. On MS43, files exist over the internet where you can either virginize the DME and pair it with any EWS or you can completely delete the EWS and the DME won't care what car it goes into from a security perspective.
BMW switched over to the MS45.1 in 03/03 for regular cars, xi's always had MS43 and SULEV's always had MS45.
Your best bet is this https://m.ebay.com/itm/E46-MS45-1-DM...-/253584669681 if you don't want to buy a new DME from BMW which is $1000+

Thanks for the great info, always good to learn something new. So just swap out the dme module with this and new key and it should start right up?

Is this your listing here? If so, please pm me I'd like to see if we can work something out for overnight shipping.

Thanks
