Great weekend at #gatewaymotorsportspark with #nasacentralregion moved to HPDE 2. Powering steering went out. Looks like I have work to do this week.

Well the power steering pump shaft sheared off. Ordered new pump, reservoir and hoses.

I had the same thing happen in my wife's Tahoe while doing a quick u-turn. Man was that thing a pain to drive with no PS.

Cure: Trade for Spec E30, drive without PS.

At least you're looking at a straightforward fix. Good call replacing the hoses while you're at it. Great talking to you at Gateway, and hope to see you at ACC next weekend.

Bill, that is a LF20 pump. They're known for that. Did you buy a new LF20 pump or upgrade to the LF30? If you got another LF20 pump and haven't installed anything, see if you can return the stuff and get a LF30 instead. You need two different hoses than the LF20 uses though.

Was at Autobahn with NASA this weekend. Driving not working. Got the power steering pump, reservoir and new hoses on Friday. Crappy day Saturday, cold and rain. My only goal driving Saturday was to keep the car in one piece and make it to today. Today was awesome. Will post video soon.

Got the AiM SoloDL installed. Made my own mount attaches to bolt holding dash behind trim piece. Hardest part was stripping Can-bus wires without cutting and soldering connection.

Hey BigBill how do you like the AIM SoloDL? Which temps/pressures etc does it pull for the OEM ECU?

Finally got around to modifying my jack stands so they will fit inside the BMW plastic jack pad receptacle. Modified stands on left.
