RWD and Manual is great but it has 200k miles and peeling clear coat and it's listed at $5k

And the wheels. The VIN says that car isn't a sport pkg car.

Those are also pre-facelift sport package wheels.

And note it's had black carpet, a black console, and black door cards swapped in. It has potential, but not $5k worth of potential.

I think that's just their goofy trim on the pics. Pic 3 is a headliner shot and looks like the standard light color.

Yes, both all the $$$. A coworker and I were just talking about the value difference between sedans and wagons as he's been trying to sell a sedan. His sedan is a nice car, but lower options and around 200k miles. He had an offer of $1600 without the 18" wheels.

There's a clear picture of the A-pillar in one shot and it's gray. I think it's just the lighting that makes the headliner appear darker, as they took that picture with the sunroof shade open so the aperture on the camera closed.

Yeah I was looking at my computer screen with the brightness all the way down at night and it looked black. Whoops.

Take a look at the front bumper on the white one. Looks like they backed up over something, maybe a curb, and it pulled the bottom lip out. Side view shows it's not quite sitting right.

Yes, many inconsistencies. Have to wonder if that was an enthusiast with a budget, or if you would find many other more detrimental shortcuts with that car.

I've commented a few times before that I have a soft spot for red wagons. This one is kinda of strange with the mis-matched interior colors.

The VIN on this car is surprisingly close to mine which is also a 2003 325i w/ manual trans... This one ends in EZ15369 which is only 59 away from mine, EZ15310. My car was built on July 12, 2003 while this on was built in September 6, 2003. That translates to pretty low wagon production volume over the 2 month period between VINs. Although I think the EZ code applies only to RWD wagons, so there would have also been xi's produced during that period with some other VIN code.

A while back I remember reading on the board where someone was able to break out the wagon production into several groups of VIN codes to determine the various date/VIN ranges that wagons were produced. There was also more general wagon related production info posted as well. I can't seem to find that thread anywhere, does anyone else remember seeing something similar?

It lists the car as a 2004, but also has the wrong vin so that could explain that. The vin in the craigslist ad appears to be correct for the car which further suggests it is a 2003.

I guess the current owner in PA bought it from this dealership in IL and is already selling it and using the same pictures. It might be nothing but seems like it could be a scam or something big wrong with the car.

Good detective work; I was just about to post that.

The dealer was trying to sell that car for awhile. Not suggesting something is wrong with it - maybe they were simply not able to find a buyer - but nevertheless useful for any potential buyer to know, I think.
