e60 530d 214bhp engine into e46 320d compact 150bhp

Hi just had timing chain snap on my e46 320d 150bhp 6speed compact, have allways wanted to go the 3.0d route with it, have brought a crashed e60 530d 214bhp auto, just looking for some advice on what other parts i will need to carry out the conversion
thanks

The M57n b30 of the e60 has a bigger clutch bell housing bolt pattern than the M47. The M57n of the e46 330d is the last 3L diesel with the small pattern same as M47

No, the e46 330d 204hp m57n is the last 3L Diesel with the small bellhousing. You should also have an m57n but with the bigger bellhousing.

I have some different motors and gearboxes at my garage. If I find some time at the weekend, I will have a look if it is possible to redrill some boltholes to fit a small bellhousing gearbox to a big bellhusing motor.

Ok you its possible to fit your 320d gearbox to the 530d e60 motor if you redrill the two big boltholes on the sides of the block, the two holes on the top will fit directly.

Also you need an 530d dual mass flywheel. The 530d or 330d clutches don't fit to the input spline of your gearbox. But the 240mm clutch of your compact 320d will fit to that 530d dmf but i don't know if it holds the 500nm of tourque for long. So maybe you should look for an upgraded clutch.

I don't know what else you need. e46 330d motor mounts, maybe 330d oilpan!? It's not the easyest swap you want to do. The 330d and 530d motors are mainly the same but the small things that are different can make big trouble.
