M54b25 into a 316ti?

Having bother with the 316 compact I bought and Iím running out of patience with the motor. Found two online for the same price. One is another n46 same as the one thatís in. The other is the m54b25 out of a 325ti. Can anyone tell me if the m54 will drop in relatively easily and will it marry up to the transmission from the 316? I just figure for the same money I might as well go large . The engine is listed as sump block and cylinder head plus ancillaries so if anyone can tell me what else I would need to make this work Iíll look into it in more depth
