Someone help me find a wagon. RWD is the only requirement. Not too picky about color or mileage. I just want a clean body.

Budget is about $4,000

I live in NY but I am willing to fly and drive the right car.

This is my car. Wanted to see what the market would bear, but didn't find the right buyer via BaT. I've now found a 996TT I'd like to replace it with and am ready to sell below what my BaT reserve was set at. If anyone is interested in one of the most mechanically complete E46 S54 tourings out there, shoot me a pm.

Probably out of my range, but man, this is a good looking car. I'm back in the market for a touring to drive every day, and had to restrain myself from bidding on BAT.

I just sent him a PM. I've got a wagon that's stock, well maintained, and probably in your price range. Maybe we can do a three way shuffle!

Are you looking to get into a S54 Touring? I've been loosely thinking of selling mine just to have an excuse to build another one

New to this site. Amazing community you've got going here.

I've been a Saab guy all my life but the 900's are all but gone.

I'm in the market for a e46 Xi Touring w/manual. I almost snagged that one in Sheboygan a few days ago but decided to hold out for a standard transmission.

By the way...did BMW ever make an e46 330 or just the 325?

Thanks in advance...and any leads are welcomed.

Plenty of sedans and coupes 330's available but North America did not see any E46 330 wagons.

Best lead would be to monitor this thread, setup craigslist alerts, and periodically check various car shopping sites. Autotempest is good as it checks every other site at once.

As noted above, yes 330 Sedan & Coupe are plentiful.

Europe had the 330 Touring available.

I haven't really seen any imported, but people on this board have documented the engine swap process which is straight forward mechanically and takes a bit of flashing/coding work to iron out the wrinkles for computer modules

Wow, quick responses. Thanks! I'll be setting up alerts for a e46 325 Xi Manual then! Any years that are better than others? Do you think it's possible to find one under 5k? That's about my ceiling.

5K is a pretty reasonable budget. There are a lot of cars out there for less than that but most are automatics. The enthusiast market seems to drive up the price of manual cars slightly.

This is a pretty interesting thread to read through on xi touring production numbers:

https://forum.e46fanatics.com/showth...uction+numbers

Since you're exclusively looking for an XiT then you'd be in the market for 2001 model year and up. The 01's have the pre-facelift designed front bumper/headlights/hood/fenders, etc. and 2002+ are the LCI "facelift" version. I prefer the later style personally, but some people love the prefacelift cars.

The 02 thru 05 tourings didn't see a whole lot of changes. There are just a few minor things like different wheels depending on sport/non sport model. The Xi's had different wheels than the rwd cars as well. I think in 04 rain sensing wipers and auto headlights also became standard.

With relatively low production numbers in general and even lower numbers in manual transmission / xi it can be a bit of a waiting game to find the particular car you're looking for. If exterior/interior colors and certain options matter then it make take even longer.

There are a few other options/packages that may influence your decision:

-Sport Package (Includes stiffer/lower suspension components, sport seats, sport steering wheel, and 17" wheels)
-Premium Package (Power seats, sunroof, wood grain trim)
-Cold weather package (Heated seats, headlight washers)
-Leather seats (as stand alone option) can be a little difficult to tell compared to standard leatherette just by looking.
-Heated seats (as stand alone option)
-Xenon headlights
-Harman Kardon Audio

...I'm sure I'm missing some other ones.

Manual cars got the 6mt '03 and up, didn't they? Even on the Xi?

I think that was just on the 330's. My 04 325i sedan has a 5 speed manual. I don't think any of the E46 wagons got a 6 speed manual (unless you're counting the 6 speed SMG)

Raferalston, all I can find near me are Xi tourings. Im in the NE and looking for a RWD. Ill pass them on to you in a PM later today.

Is there any reason I should pass on 2000 323 tourings? Ive found 2 of them near me that look pretty clean.
