Worked with balidawg today to update the car, he found that the DME was at the latest but the trans wasnt. Updated the trans with no issues and checked some other stuff out which was helpful. The trans shifts smoother but still solid yet not harsh like before (after one drive test) He is good to work with and knows his stuff. He did this all remotely and we had no issues from west coast to east coast. Thanks Scott! (ill post up long term findings later)

Big kudos to Scott (super nice and knowledgeable individual) for this endeavor to help the E46 community.

DME verified to be the latest and the TCU (original & significantly out of date) software was updated. Drove 100 miles afterwards and everything was beautifully smooth. A subtle, but certainly noticeable difference.

Thank you sir.

Do I need an update?

hi, thanks for the good deeds!
I am looking at my log file and the version numbers seem a bit higher than in the version post. Do I need an update?

Both the DME and EGS in your 2006 M3 were flashed on 05/27/2009. The DME was updated while the EGS was flashed with the same version.

Looking in the MSS54 version history, I do see 7837801.
https://forum.e46fanatics.com/showpo...&postcount=210
And if you follow the version chain there it does terminate at 7842567, so your DME is at the latest.

Looking in the SMG2 version history, I do see 7837730, but that is not the latest.
https://forum.e46fanatics.com/showpo...&postcount=405
And if you follow the version chain there it shows a newer version of 7843254 is available, so that could be updated.

Oh awesome. Thanks for the breakdown.

Is there a changelog or some info on what got updated?

Also, (sorry for the wrong wording) how do CLS dme /trans ecu mods work? I was to improve clutch engagement, and 2 other popular flushes. Does it overwrite the software with its own version, or modifies something inside the latest version?

Thank you Scott!

Everything is working great, these updates were really necessary!
2800rpm stutter gone, feels little bit more peppy, short trim and long trim values now in spec, shift points more predictable and refined.
o2 sensors now reading/reporting correctly.
ill report later about fuel efficiency.

I really appreciate your dedication and help commitment.

Happy new year!

Iíve never seen any change log. Since this is internal BMW software, we may never see one.

I donít do tuning or ECU mods. As stated in post #1, I update using BMW factory software.

a humble request

Hi there.
I just finished rebuilding (first time I've done that...) the zf-5hp19 tranny in my sons 04 e46 (using 50sKids' video tutorial) and am experiencing harsh shifting on the first gear. From what I've read so far, an update to the module software is in order...
Now... might you have the latest daten to share.

You donít need the latest daten files. Version 39 or higher is fine as BMW stopped updating them for E46 in 2005-2006. You can just Google for download links. Here is v50.2, for example.

BaliDawg,
I am looking to have my trans flashed to the latest version. I got everything set up but I guess I need to post before I can PM you. I'll send you a message if that is cool?

I went to Scott and to get my car's DME flashed to EU2. He took the time to explain step by step what he was doing and what software he's using. He even offered to setup the software on my computer as well.
Thank you so much for doing this and to take the time to help people out

Scott helped me over the phone with my problems last week. You want to talk about a nice person, this guy is something else. Not only helped me with installing and setting up the software I needed, but he sat and showed me everything it was capable of doing. The updates fixed my problem and the setup really gave me the tools I need in case I run into more issues down the line. We are lucky to have a guy like this on the forum. Thanks again for all of the help Scott!

Balidawg (Scott) was amazing at explaining the issues i had in a very understandable manor. Updated my ride and taught me some valuable lessons on what to look for with certain issues using the INPA software. I feel much more confident now diving into the program and much more understanding of how to utilizw this software to my advantage. Thanks for the suspension tips too Scott! Youre an amazing dude!

Scott spent as much time as needed to setup the software and show me how it works on my 2003 M3. He really is a valuable part of our E46 community as he is patient, generous and very pleasant to work with. Thanks for your time.
