37" or 40" best bang for the buck

Easy scenario:

- You are buying a flat screen tv for your bedroom
- You are replacing a 32" Polaroid LCD
- You want a 37" or 40"
- TV will only be used for HDTV and DVD watching
- You have a maximum budget of $850
- You want a good, reliable TV

What do you buy?

Do you have a specific model in mind, and does it come in a 40"? That was one of the requirements.
