$1000.00 to spend on a new TV

I am looking to buy a new TV for the living room. Not sure what the size is we have in there now possibly a 46 inch, what are some of the better brands, or safer (longer lasting) brands out there?

Damn, that is a nice one.

I bought the TV I have now (Samsung) from Sears and they have come out on 4 different occations to fix it. The front panel has been replaced 3 times... We are not fond of Sammy but believe it is the model we bought, not the brand.

Because we bought the added warranty, AND the service tech can't fix it, we get a $1,000.00 coupon to get a new TV even though we paid $700.00 for it back in 2009.

If you have lots of light a panny plasma is about the worst thing you can buy.

I had to return mine because I got tired of looking at reflections.

That being said they have a very nice picture and you get alot for your money(should be able to get a 60" no problem).

I think LED's closed the gap on plasmas in almost every category(except blur and price).

Check slickdeals for a good price.

Reflections are due to angles and light sources not amount of light.

LCD/LED with protective covers will have the same "issues"

The more you look for it, the more you will see it.

I have 16ft of glass down my wall next to my TV and have no "issues" at all.

In addition, reflection is most seen in dark areas of the picture, not the entire picture.

JMO.

I have skylights and if LCD tv's have problems with it they don't at my house.

Plasma is unwatchable at my house.

I have friends that ditch theirs for a LED after having similar issues.

Still sporting an Apex tube in the bedroom. Maybe because I use it only for sleeping and extra curricular activities with the GF.
I'm always waiting for the next best tv to go on sale and when it does, I'm always waiting for the next best tv to go on sale.
Technology is a *****.
