Maybe it depends on the location

of course, you have to be insane to pay anything close to MSRP.

EDIT: It was actually in the low 6k range, I just checked my bill it was in the 5k range before the tax.

That's how much my mom ended up paying after the enormous discount, lol. (Including install at calibration charges)

I was shopping around for a 6010. Authorized online dealers have them for $4300 shipped, comes with 2-year Pioneer warranty.

I don't know why you guys don't buy online, you get warranty service just the same. I like buying things in local stores as much as the next guy but not $3k more!

My parents bought this at BB because our previous TV we got was from there. That TV had broken and was under warranty so they gave them the full buying price of 2800 as well as the shipping and installation for free. She was also able to use a 15% off coupon (before the 2800 credit.) So when all was said and done, the TV cost less than 4k

I'm not understanding your math. Your mom paid $2800 for a tv and got a $2800 return credit. You're treating this like a discount? By that logic you could've gotten flatscreens in the store for free!

I've bought large ticket items over the internet before. When it arrives we check it for DOA. If it fails you can just refuse delivery and they'll ship a new one to you. It's no different than what they would do at retail stores. Everyone likes the convenience of a walk-in store. But a difference of $1500 even with 15% discount seems excessive.

Whatever floats your boat. It's a great TV, I'm sure you're gonna love it.

What logic are you not understanding? Yeah, she could have gotten a TV for 2800, but not a very good one at 60"... Why get a $3000 TV when you can get a $8000 TV? She needed a new TV that was 60" and she wanted a Pioneer. She just happened to be able to get 2800 store credit and use a nice coupon.

No, I'm saying you shouldn't treat the credit like a discount. It was your money to begin with, you did not get the TV cheaper than what the coupon offered you.

You can buy the TV elsewhere and save $1500 off BB's discounted price, then use $2800 credit for other things that aren't ridiculously overpriced. Whatever.

It was way more convenient to walk in a store than to roam the internet looking for the best price and TV and hope that their customer service is decent. And I'm not so sure they would have been so generous with the store credit had we not gone in there for another TV set. On top of that, there isn't anything in that store for that kind of money that was needed. 2800 bucks is a lot to spend if you don't need a stereo or television...
