42" and 46" Panasonic 720p 80u are both 799 at Sears this week. Still 899 for the 50". Extra 10% of with or no interest until 2012 with Sears card.

I would print the ads and take them to all the retailers in your area.

Biz is down, maybe they want the sale.

Even at half the difference of savings, you get a real store.

Lowes matched $3K worth of gladiators for me on an internet site. Saved like $1K.

When you ARE serious on EXPENSIVE TVs, post the models and prices and I will check cost.

Love those gladiator cabinets, I'm jealous every time you post the pics.

6thAve has a couple brick and mortar stores where I live, however the stores I've been to have some shady people, and they TV's on display are all old models. I've had good luck bargaining at PC Richard and Son stores, and that was even before the economy was completely in the shiter.

Don't waste your money on a 720P. You'll want to buy a 1080P when you decide to go Bluray... might as well get it now!

This is the TV I have and I love it. 58" of HD glory. You will always be behind in technology as soon as you buy your tv. For instance, all I hear about are 120Hz tvs.

I would say you can not go wrong with Panasonic Plasmas.

Glockman is a good resource on this forum.

I'm sure it's a great tv, I just don't know about the company I bought it from. I got a 3 year warranty with it as well, so I should be okay right?

You're right, my bad. Buy the protection agreement for 299 or 349 to bring it over 999, then cancel it within the first year.

ummmmm...no

especially with a 42" , under normal viewing distance, one can't even tell the difference between the two. Any difference you see between two sets is more likely due to their video processing techniques then it is their resolution. i.e look up the old pioneer elite kuro plasmas. They were only 720P but still continue to be the benchmark, even against newer 1080p TVs

in any case, i think by next year, ALL hdtvs will be 1080p

1080p is really only relevant when you sit closer than 6 ft. Beyond that for most sets your eyes cannot discern the difference. Sure makes for good marketing though!

No one likes the 120Hz effect, Hollywood movies start to look like they were filmed with a regular home camcorder.
