Camshaft probably sensor

2002 325i. Could a bad camshaft sensor make car crank but no start? Also When I crank my rpm gauge does not move at all. Also when I spray starting fluid it will run briefly ofc. But new fuel pump and filter. After I prime it and I check the rail for pressure and I have pressure. Still wonít stay running. Help would be really appreciated, thanks!

I would think so but Iím not a mechanic. Are you getting any codes?

If you post this in the General Forum you will get a lot more qualified answers.

FWIW, sounds like the crank sensor.
Cam sensors probably wouldn't stop it starting...

I had a bad exhaust cam sensor and it just gave me a code, car ran perfectly fine otherwise. Crank sensor is a whole different ball game. I know on some vehicles (can't remember for sure on E46) that fuel pump won't run until it detects a signal from crank sensor so I would be tempted to look into that.
