Time for an E92 335

As I have wrecked my beloved E46, Iím thinking itís time to upgrade to a 2008 335 2 door. Found a nice option for cheap needs some work but no big deal I love doing my own work canít wait to be mounting a big single turbo. Supercar killer coming soon????

A bunch of my friends have 335's with an N54. The engine is great but the surrounding components are garbage. On top of that they are always fighting boost leaks. The guys with the N55 don't have any of these problems its a rock solid platform. Obviously you can't push the N55 platform the same way but it can still take more then most need. With the all of the problems N54's have you couldn't pay me to own one. On top of that they are heavy as ****.

See thatís the thing, I was the N54 for the forged bottom end, looking to strip weight and make it a race car anyhow eventually, itíll be daily driven for the time being until I buy something else and then I plan on stripping out all the seats and just putting a racing seat in, maybe a bracket for a second that I can just unbolt. Should be able to get it close to 3000 pounds honestly. I donít want an is I want the 6 speed manual, stock with twin turbos but Iím planning on a single 66mm or bigger. Is comes with a twin scroll single and Iím gonna be swapping it out anyhow so that wouldnít benefit me at all.
Iím looking at 800+ horse. Iíll honestly go through the entire car and make sure itís tip top before that though. Suspension refresh and all that good ****

Admittedly I didn't follow all of that but the 335is is definitely available with a 6MT transmission. It still has the twin turbos but produces more power and torque than the 335i. If there is a technical advantage of the 335i over the 335is I'd like to understand it. I've lived in E46 world for a long time and am just starting to consider one of these as my next daily driver.

The is actually has a twin scroll single turbo, not a twin turbo, thatís the main difference.

The only real advantage of the 335is is that its the only n54 available with the DCT , the added horsepower is just a tune.
