Advice for Cooling shroud and Clutch fan install

Doing the water pump, thermostat housing and radiator hoses and I just destroyed my cooling fan shroud trying to force it in between the radiator and clutch fan. Tried to thread the fan on while the shroud was in place but could not get it started. What's the secret to getting this back together?

Thanks, Chet

Lower the shroud with the fan inside catching lower and side clips on the radiator. And then thread the fan remembering it's reverse threaded. Just thread it snug; if you overtighten you'll regret it next time. Generally I'Ve had to get underneath to verify the shroud caught bottom clips and side locators. Seems easy to mis-locate

Don't spend much on fan parts without considering converting to puller fan used with manual transmissions (search here for "fan mod"). This replaces two current fans plus shroud with single electric fan plus shround - and is a snap to remove and install. GL

If ya wanna go electric fans go with the ford contour fans, they are twin and they blow some serious air! Best move I made with my car as I had a set of electric ones **** out on me, then tried the stock fan and the clutch locked up and chewed up my brand new shroud! Put these twin fans on after and couldnt be happier
