Another RLS Retrofit

I don't want to reply to years old RLS posts, so I decided to create this one.

Since I bought an auto-LCM (sw 3.6 I think?) to do LED tail lights properly and triple-blink. I decided to go ahead and get the auto headlights working.

But at this point I am lost since it's not working.

First the car; it's a '00 328CI, it came with a rain sensor from the factory (unit 8 382 468. sw 1.3, hw 0.4) (4 wires)

I went and bought a RLS on ebay (cause it wasn't bad in price), it is a RLS 6 922 046 (hw 4.1.) The description says it was from a 2000-2006 E46/E53/E83.
But, looking up that item says it's for a 00-04 E65 E66.

The pinout I found on another retro-fit post matches my stock wiring, wire pin 1 is power, 2 is ground. I verified this with a multimeter.

With it plugged into the car the auto headlights don't work, but also an odd thing happens.
The windshield wipers cannot return to their resting position on any setting.

When I start up INPA it says it can't connect to the RLS that it's not found. So that means either (A) the k-bus isn't connected via the factory wires, or (B) that was the wrong RLS to buy.

Does anyone have experience with going from a rain-only sensor to the RLS, or knows what years/models they changed k-bus talking on?

Thanks!

I have included attached pictures to demonstrate differences. Hopefully a good source for others to look at.
1) First picture should show the difference in sizes
2) Difference in the lens size (translucent purple plastic?)
3) Differences on unit labels
4) The IR part differences
5) Board differences
6) And the RLS lens mounted on the car, showing that all the key components should be visible on the other side. Minus there is no tint for the light sensor.

you'll want one from an E46, as this DIY states that different sensor talk to the K bus differently, to rule out other issues: http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showt...)-Retrofit-DIY

I've read that article plenty of times before, but I did end up buying the one stated in that article. And everything works perfectly when connected. Didn't had to run any extra wires.
Kinda funny the different K-bus one effected the wiper blades not returning to center.

I like to try things out and examine why it don't work, or how to rig it to get it work.

As a note in that article the one that works is a RLS 6 923 954 (hw 4.0). Which according to bmwfans is for a january 2001+ E46, E39, E53, E83, E85, and E86.
And as stated the one that didn't work for me was a RLS 6 922 046 (hw 4.1) which was for a 00-04 E65 E66. The seller said it was a E46 which wasn't correct.

The differences being the 6 923 954's K-bus chip is an ELMOS 10020B (correct for our cars.)
While the one in the later model is a TJA1054T.

For archival and research purposes I'm going to post the differences in the chips here for anyone else wants to look at.
If the images ever go down let me know.

On the pictures left is the correct RLS module, right is the incorrect later k-bus one.
