Complete top replacement vs fabric only

I have an e46 m3 convertible which needs the fabric replaced due to a cut in the top. Is it easier to install a complete used top with frame and swap them or replace just the fabric with new?

Thanks

Not only easier, but more affordable. A good condition used Roof assembly can be purchased for less than $500. And on the plus side, you then have spare parts.

I definitely agree with this, but for one point. Depending on the condition of the car, a new roof canvas can make the car look amazing. I was surprised by the reaction of others to the appearance of my car when I installed the new canvas.
