Car lean to one side.

Ok. My car e46 325i had a lean to the driver side. Maybe a lil over a centimeter. Just that much you can tell it has a lean. Then I switch over to coil over suspension and its still leaning. Is there something else I need to look into to see what is causing it? I can't really find any difference from the left or right side to cause this.

the light indicator could be another bulb. there could be 3 or 4 or 5 bulbs depending on which model you have.
one of those are out.
could be your reverse, turn signal, brake light. ?

as far as the lean. did you check tire pressure? also what might help is looking at the gap between the fender.

KohbraxE46, i checked the lights reverse, brakes, emergency and they are all working. Now i notice that the light comes on one day and i check the lights again and everything is working. Then the next day its gone and all the lights are working. So that is why it confused me on what it could be. Tire pressure are the same. it seems like the body of the car is tilted or something is causing the body to lean that side. will need to continue looking. Been reading about spring pad.. but that just doesnt seem right.

hmmm it could be a fuse. orrrrrr. i know that the e46 wiring for the taillights tend to burn out or get messed up. take a look at that. and see if your wires are ok. but in this area I'm not sure

im not an expert on the leaning thing? but it can be a failing strut. think of all the parts that hold your car up. and go from there.

Enough with the trolling, another thing you can keep in mind that would cause a car to leave over unequally would be the sway bars bunching up. Try checking those, I remember reading about it in another article that a lot of people neglect.

I guess I can switch the shocks and spring around see how that goes.

What do you mean by bunching up? But I will check the sway and see if there is any thing different from one side to the other. Thx will check it this weekend.

The rear light out issue is due to a ground problem. Do a search on the forum for rear tail light ground. The fix is easy.

Hi everybody,

My car (e46 323i) has some problem on the right side. When I lift the car up from the rear, right side is noticeably lower than the left. Do you have an idea what might be broken? Support is touching the plate on the right side.

Thanks for all the info!

Best regards from Finland!

Edit: Problem fixed - Rubber mounting was broken, part number 33326770786.

yea i tried moving shocks and springs from one side to the other still leans. could bushing cause this lean. I cant really see certain bushing and dont want to remove them if i dont have to but if it might be one of the problem I will have to do so .

The difference from left to right is common. If you search many people see this issue. Some theorize that this is purposely designed to accommodate driver weight Adjustable height coil overs will correct this...

Ok I had the same problem I find out my e46 325ci had wider tires so I put on 225/40/18 on rear plus got 4 wheel alignment done now the car is balanced and no tyres rubbing on arch plus check suspension unit if all is ok best to get it checked by two or three garage
