Robinhood

Anyone ever heard of Robinhood before? I was on the wait list for almost 6-8 month I believe and I just got my invitation. I tried searching but I can't find anything with the app.

I know a few people using it over on another BMW forum, still waiting for it to expand to support more platforms.

Should I give it a try? Im a bit nervous since I have never traded before and I wanted to give it a try. Should I do this or Fidelity Investments?

One of my employees has recently gotten into investing and opened up a Robin Hood account with $8000. It's a good platform for beginners and long term holders. However there are some downfalls, including no buying power and a 3 day settle period after selling. It's very bare-minimum so they don't offer extra services that a brokerage such as TDAmeritrade would offer, such as news alerts, real time Bid / Ask, chart details, options contracts, etc. I wouldn't use Robin Hood personally because I find those tools imperative when looking at the technical perspective in trading.

I use it all the time it's great to tinker in the market. I have $50 bucks in there just for fun. Try it!

By "no buying power" I assume you mean they don't offer margin accounts? If so, that explains why you have to satisfy the T+3 day rule.

Anyone have bad things to say about this app? I just opened an account with them. Put $500 and am playing around with a few stocks ATM.

Been using it for months, have not had any issues. Other than the fact of if you're day trading it flags you, just a heads up!
