The electric fan is supposed to turn on once temp hit's a threshold regardless of the mechanical fan

When the temp gauge is at twelve oclock the electric fan is still not spinning

That might be ok but if it hit's one o'clock the fan should be on.

How was the water pump? The issue with my car over heating ended up being the thermostat, but I pulled and checked the water pump while I was at it.
