With the proper tires even my RWD e36 got me through some fairly deep snow. With just a pair of Blizzaks on the drives and no LSD I could get around in 8" of snow and drive into the unplowed lot at work through the pile that the city plow had piled into driveway. My xi with snow tires got me around in 10" of snow and even deeper drifts. Momentum and wheel speed helped.
