Check into the specs on your compound. The ceramic-based compounds are great at keeping dust and noise down, but their overal temp ratings are usually lower than organic OEM brake pads.

I've used everything from dustless Axxis brake pads (OEM worked better) to a full on XP12 / XP10 Carbotech setup (Stopped on a dime, but dusted and sounded like a freight train trying to stop on the rails).

And yes, I've tested a variety of compounds in a variety of settings like autocross, HPDE events, and daily driving.

Oh, and all 4 Stoptech's are $110 vs. $200 for all 4 Performance Z's... Something to keep in mind.

Just ordered a set of Stoptechs - I'll pop back in the thread with a review once they're installed...

Most on the forum go new, I had mine resurfaced when I installed the A'bono Euro Ceramic pads. If you choose to reuse your rotors make sure they do a non-directional finish.

I have ebc reds on the rear. It's been about 8 months since I swapped them.
The front's are almost done. At first the EBCs squealed, but if you bed them, the squeal goes away. In cold temps like winter, I drove them thru winter, intial squeek, once you warm them up, the squeal goes away.

After 10k, still has a lot of pad, almost new. Mind you these are rears, so less work.

I've got another 2k left in my front's before I replace my fronts with ebc reds.
I have the textars on the front, came with the car.

textars dust like there's no tomorrow. After a week you can tell the difference between front and rear. The second week, it's as if I have black rims on the front and stock silver grey rims on the rear.

I just replaced my parents Chevy Avalanche with 33" tires OEM pads with the Stoptech SP pads. The OEM pads was terrible with Emergency Braking with the oversize tires. First thing my mom said that it has improved alot and are very happy with the performance.

The StopTechs are Para-aramids Composite pads. The StopTech will dust but much less then Oem. No noise issue and have a good lifespan.

Stoptech Street Performance Brake Pads are not ceramic.

Anthony provided all the info on the above post regarding their pad material. Great set of pads that really deliver an increase in performance over the OEM brake pads.......with a lot less dust.

My Ride: BMW 330ci
For what it's worth, I just replaced my Hawk HPS with Stoptech on my 330ci. The Stoptech's are much much better. The best street pad I've had on my car to date. Used them for a track day at Portland Raceway 2 weeks ago and was outbraking everyone in my group (it was wet, so tires a big factor also - side note: Dunlop Star Spec - great tire!).

I've another track day this Monday - weather should be good, so I'll report back on how well they hold up, but I'm hugely impressed so far.

Hard to gauge braking from my poor quality onboard video, but you'll get an idea of how they're doing:

Best Regards
Paul

Looks like StopTech is the winner so far.

Akebono a close second?

Has that changed over the years?

I run stoptech street performance pads in the front and textar in the rear paired with Zimmerman rotors. The cold bite is good and when they're hot, they work great

Thanks for the tip.

I ordered Zimmerman cross drilled rotors and stop tech pads.

Iím not happy with the low-dusting pads that I currently have. They seem to shake the wheel a little on hard braking (at freeway speeds). I donít remember what brand but the rotors are Ate. Theyíre well used so itís time for a new set!
