I'm looking for anyone in the Cincy area with an e46 (preferably xi) with either combo of the above parts, to meet up with and get a quick ride around the block so I know the difference in feel between the setups. I'm willing to throw in gas money, buy a pizza or some beer, etc for your time and energy. Opinions on these two setups are seemingly infinite and I figure if I can get a sense of them myself it would help greatly.

If anyone is interested let me know. Thanks!

I know you have probably read this, but I wanted to share my personal experience. I had my xi on coilovers (modest drop, not even an inch lower than stock at highest setting) and I tore my new CV boots after 3-4 months. Also had a very harsh ride but that may have been coils and not ride height. Anyways, the ride height screws with the CV boots. I took off the coils and bought new OEM springs and Bilstein HD shocks. I replaced all mounting hardware etc and couldn't be happier. The car handles extremely well, it can be fun on the twisty roads but still comfortable on the highway. Just my experience. Don't make my mistake and waste money on a suspension, CV boots, and tires by lowering it.

Thanks. I did weeks of research and just ordered the parts. Eibach Pro and Bilstein Sport, along with all bushings, pads, botls, etc. I'll report back in the xi forum.

Cars and coffee this Saturday for any Cincinnatians?

Hey all, I'm in the Dublin, OH area.

Currently doing subframe reinforcement and bushing replacement on my E46. Will hopefully be done next weekend so I can do a cooling system overhaul (with aluminum radiator), just in time for the PCA event at Mid Ohio June 13-14. Anyone else going to be there?

Sorry, but it appears that the "wrong forum" post was about 4 years ago. I thought the same thing when I read it though. If it's wrong, help me with what's right you know.

Looks like this part of the forum isn't so active. Guess I'll stick to the general and XI area.

Great. Agreed. And I'm always willing/eager to share what I know. It's a great site, and for those of us not computer savvy, a little difficult getting around. Thanks. Let me know what you've found helpful.

For me, the best stuff on the site are the DIY instructions. A lot of the sticky's are really good reading too. I'm not doing much work myself because I live in a condo, but knowing what needs done helps the troubleshooting. And helps keep a shop honest with you if you go in knowing what you're talking about. As far as the computer side of it, honestly I have better luck searching Google or Bing and getting directed to a link back on E46fanatics than I have with the site search feature itself. My favorite thread is the Craigslist thread. Guaranteed good times there.

Glad to know about the DIY, Jim. Thanks a lot for that. I can do some stuff, but like computer stuff? Uh, no. I'll check-out the DIY section. And I've looked at the CL already; great reading. Amazing what people put on there, and what they think they've got. I've gotta great mechanic here, private garage. He's from Albania and does great work on my '74 MB 240D, man. tranny.

Thanks! Would've loved to get a 330 but got a great deal and couldn't pass it up. I'm in Oakwood.

Can't help for the local part but ECS Tuning and BAV Auto are good places online.

Hello, here from the canton area. Is anyone else local, wondering about car clubs/car hangouts. Just bought a 2003 330ci less than a month ago.

Sent from my SM-G920T using E46Fanatics mobile app

My Ride: 2000 BMW 323ci 6spd.
From Cincy and Milford area, Names Terry and just got interested in the drift life so I bought these two. 2000 Black 323ci 6 speed with Lsd and lightened flywheel. 2000 silver 323ci 5 speed slammed and welded. Would love to have a meet or cruise sometime with my fellow enthusiasts.
