S54 swaps & emissions question

Iíve done a fair amount of searching, but havenít found exactly what Iím looking for.

Iím in the early stages of beginning to list/assemble/compile everything needed for an S54 swap. However, living in CT means emissions testing required every two years (in our case, plug in to OBD2 port, check codes/readiness, and youíre on your way).

So if I were to install an S54 and cluster into my non-M E46, does the emissions check pull the vin/model/engine information from the donor car DME? I really donít want to have to dive into CTís DMV regulations of doing a swap the Ďrightí way, but if itís unavoidable I need to know before I start shopping for a donor.

Thanks!

So if I understand correctly, the donor car DME can be modified to match the chassis VIN & mileage?

I attached a picture of what our emissions report pulls/prints. My concern is if using the M3 DME changes any of these fields (i.e. engine size, model, year, etc.) - or is all of that just based on the VIN info, so once the VIN is updated, those fields all change correspondingly?

Edit- or is all that stuff on the form just regurgitated from the DMV/registration database...
