Will the engine, transmission and transfer case go in from above?

It's the high- mileage E46 saga: Start fixing one thing, and pretty soon, everything's out. For $35 worth of seals and o- rings...

So: can the assembled engine, trans and transfer case drop in from above?
It very much looks like the front subframe is in the way, but getting the whole
car high enough to put it in from beneath is a bit scary with my current resources.

The other option (which is what I'll probably do) is lower the subframe, fix the
oil pan gasket and o- rings, then lower the engine somewhat to reattach
the transmission. Lift the engine, then lift the subframe.
But that's a lot of uncomfortable under- the- car time.

t
cramped for space due to my own lack of planning.
Really. It just needs a clutch!

This is just a guess but if you pull the radiator and support out you won't have to lift it as high. I think it involves drilling out some spot welds to remove the support. You can bolt it back in.
