i'm just looking for a good bmw mechanic to go to. i acutally live in garland texas, but anywhere around dallas would be nice, thanks
Hey lowviscosity, you know I have not done the bushing replacement yet; I actually plan to soon though since my ride has begin to sound like a pirate ship.lowviscosity said:How much you you charge to do Control Arm Bushing replacements?? And change the alternator belt?
Let me know man I've been looking for a good place and best i've found so far was Eurosport Automotive here off George Bush... they are charging around 355 for bushings and labor and they were great at Pre-Buyer inspection.
lol, sure! If you can do things like changing brake fluid and simple stuff like that. I'm getting inspection 2 done at the dealership for 435.00, which I don't think is too bad since Autoscope wanted $375 + tax. But I do want to upgrade my brake pads + rotors, brake fluid and random stuff like that sometime this summer. Lemme know if you can do any of this and any free time. I don't need any of this done NOW, but within a few months. So I won't hog any family time, of course.bigbangtheory said:Nics, go visit Marlon @ Bimmer Automotive in Addison. He's the best, and has done all the stuff for me I couldn't do myself. (972) 701-9898
Either that or call me, I'm cheaper and almost as good, lol.
:shhh:
Btw, another good shop is in Richardson. It's called German Auto Works and its located on Plano Rd and Buckingham (972) 690-6623. Ask for Scott - a great guy who is very honest and knowledgeable - and let him know I (aka "Seth") referred you so he might give you a discount.lowviscosity said:good find... but man if I could only afford it at this point. Need to get rid of my motorcycle... so the money can go to some rims and susp. parts. then the exhast :woot:
If anyone is interested in a 2003 GSXR 600 in the next few monts let me know I'll be letting it go for a good price  clean title
I took my car there once for an oil change. They left my windows rolled down while the car was sitting in the parking lot waiting for me to pick it up. They also got grease on my driver's seat. I would definitely recommend Yov's over German MOTOR Works. When I complained about it, the "owner" wasn't very responsive to my needs. I'll never go there again.bigbangtheory said:Btw, another good shop is in Richardson. It's called German Auto Works and its located on Plano Rd and Buckingham (972) 690-6623. Good looking out. I'll remember this when I'm in need of a mechanic. :idea:modeboy said:I took my car there once for an oil change. Oil change? C'mon you do that yourself now right? :hmm: If not, I can help w that; it's easier and cheaper to do it yourself, and we can make sure the oil won't end up on your driver's seat too. :thumbup:modeboy said:I took my car there once for an oil change. Classic BMW off Nrth Central Expressway (75) painted one of my door handles for free. I was suprised with that because I thought they would charge an arm and a leg to freshly paint a new piece. Mad props for that also they treat me well considering i'm a 19 yr old kid with piercings lol most car shops I go to look away thinking I'm not serious. So far they have had good service to me... but yeah I want to become a DIYer.bigbangtheory said:Oil change? I personally like Scott because he won't charge you for anything unnecessary like every other damn BMW mechanic I've met, which, incidentally, is the reason why I and many others on this board have learned to become DIYers over the years.
I'm doing brakes next weekend mostly likely. Brembos! I will check back w you maybe closer to Summer and see how your brakes are doing.Nics said:lol, sure! Sweeeet. Lemme know if you know anything about coolant flushes too, because I think I'm way over due for that. :yikes:bigbangtheory said:I'm doing brakes next weekend mostly likely. Brembos! I will check back w you maybe closer to Summer and see how your brakes are doing.
Yes. Been there, done that too. Ironically, one of the few bimmer diys that gets messier if you do it right. Really messy job, as there's just no easy way to catch the fluid as you drain it out of the engine block, in addition to the radiator itself. I would do it twice a year since we such nice, warm summers in Dallas.Nics said:Sweeeet. Lemme know if you know anything about coolant flushes too, because I think I'm way over due for that. :yikes:
Expensive? He installs aftermarket parts?Paul Sloane said:I've known Barry Gibb at Nine-Eleven Enterprises for 24 years. Mr. Gibb has worked on my E21, E30, E36 and now the 330i. Mr. Gibb has an MBA from Texas Tech and is an active member of the PCA and BMW CCA so he is not your average BMW technician. Nine-Eleven Enterprises is located in Northwest Dallas, west of I-35 and north of Royal Lane. Mr. Gibb can be reached at 972.241.2002.
Mr. Gibb's prices are fair to his customers and his business. As for installing aftermarket parts, I'd suggest you give him a call.Nics said:Expensive? He installs aftermarket parts?
I know Autobahn doesn't install aftermarket parts, but the mechanics might as a side job or something.Nehemiah1 said:Go to Autobahn, they give good service. As for Zig Gardener (customer rep) and Bob Pollo (service tech)
Hey Nics, I might have some "free time" in mid-late May after I finish the patio arbor project. Maybe we could do your coolant flush sometime then. I did my brakes last week (what a beatdown), but now the car stops on a dime! :woot:Nics said:Sweeeet. Lemme know if you know anything about coolant flushes too, because I think I'm way over due for that. :yikes:
