NO START AFTER FLASHING 430069 - SOLVED (for me anyway) - hopefully this will help someone in the same boat.

my scenario: 2004 330i, 6 speed manual, previously flashed with the 430056 EWS bypass, LC etc, original DME (& a spare) with EWS still installed.

I flashed the 430069 512k file with the MS4x flasher tool numerous times to both DMEs with various combinations of checksumming / checksum bypassing /ews bypassing / LC- NO LC / unmodified etc etc, with hrs of getting the same crank with no start situation that a number of readers seem to be having trouble with.
I went through the instructions / tried others recommendations but couldn't get it to work, until:

I eventually worked out the file downloaded from the Wiki site is not VIN virginised, SO:

A, - you must manually edit the VIN via TunerPro (or similar software) to the downloaded 430069 bin file, then save it, then flash via MS4X flasher. ( copy the hex data from a working read bin file) - (Im not sure if "FF"ing the Vin would work? - someone please step in here.. )

B, - IF, you are starting with a non origiginal (spare DME with EWS bypassed etc), then you MUST flash in boot mode- (grounding pin 104 etc), then re-sync the EWS. - a full flash with MS4X flasher without boot mode does not overwrite the secure data and it will not EWS sync or start.

I'm far from an expert on this, and its probably obvious to some! - but passing on my experience to possibly save a bit of time for someone else!

Also FYI: My original DME had 430069 software on it already, but none of the community patchlist mods would work ("base data does not match" error) - it turns out my original 430069 was a different version than the 430069 from the Wiki site. so even different builds of the same versions are in-compatible!

A big thanks BTW to SDA2 and other contributors for making this stuff available and sharing there knowledge! - Theres a cold beer or two here next time you're in NZ!

Thanks

For those who have issues with running under windows 7 ("not seeing" license.lic) - you have to install .net 4.7.2 (e.g. https://download.microsoft.com/downl...-AllOS-ENU.exe)

Just wanted to add my successful experience with a C6 versioned MS42 (99 328i). Latest Windows 10. Amazon cable. No driver install required just plug and play! Was able to backup a partial and full. Acquired definitions from Romraider. Modified partial to delete SAP as a test. Flashed modified partial using tool and key procedure. Car is running great. Thank you!

In my case it worked like this and I followed these steps:

Hello, the first thing is to know what brand of original frame the car has on the motometer or bosh, it is a frame of a smg or manual or vice versa. in my case smg2 motometer if the box is from before 2003 and the car tb can be used, encode vin and kms, with bmw scanner copy ews to ike, copy odometer from the original to the m3, with that modify values ***8203;***8203;of the automatic box to manual and some more adjustment that right now I don't remember. Take a reading of the dme cn pasoft and modify the water temperature and the kms / h values. Then update the dme, with that the oil temperature started to work.
For the rpm LEDs, it is more complicated, you need x least windows xp and Windows 7 better 64 bits, ms4x programs, tunerpro, the table of values ***8203;***8203;that the ms430066 program gives you in my case. Do a full read of the dme cn ms4xflasher, save and use it in tunerpro as a bin file. And with the ms430066 xdf table, modify the values ***8203;***8203;you want.

Even so, I could not activate the rpm LEDs because my cluster does not have them, I still do not know why it does not.
