Ah, a paintless wonder! Lol! Not the spunkiest of vehicles, but oozes cool, IMO.

Definitely not good sales tactics by the salesman and sales manager. I think I would have been looking to speak to the general manager or the owner after that kind of experience. Completely un professional and uncalled for. What did momma used to say? Oh, yeah, "if you can't say anything nice..."

Oh and my black cube trim came in yesterday from Lithuania (ebay). I had suspicions, now confirmed, that it was painted black to cover up scratches and defects. It Looks pretty good though for what I paid and especially compared to what it would have cost new. Here are some photos compared to the 3M Di-noc faux carbon fiber vinyl wrapped trim in my sedan.

Apparently the OEM finish for the black cube must be anodized or something because after years of sun exposure it starts to turn purple-ish? There is a thread over on ZHP Mafia about lightly dusting a few coats of black paint on to restore it or painting other colors for a custom look.

That looks like the same vinyl I have my trim wrapped in. A little disappointed in the application of mine, but love the overall aesthetic. How "soft touch" is the black cube trim? Or is it a hard finish?

Yeah the vinyl wrap is hit or miss on a few of my trim pieces. I was learning as I went along so the last piece that I did around the shifter turned out awesome compared to a few wavy edges on the door trims.

The black cube trim is made from aluminum that has been run through some type of stamping process to emboss the cube shapes into it. It is a hard finish that is not soft to the touch. I'm pretty sure the original black coating is anodized so it can sometimes fade in the sun and turn from a deep black to a purplish color over the years. Any scratches in the finish will show up as silver/raw aluminum.

The ebay trim I bought has been painted with black paint to cover scratches and restore the black color. Whoever painted it did a pretty good job with light coats so it didn't fill in any of the embossed detail. If it ever gets scratched up again I can just strip the paint and redo it in black, or some people paint it silver like in that DIY thread I posted from ZHP mafia.
