325xi 2j swap
Hey guys, I've been looking through some forums but none have really answered the exact questions I have.
Im looking to 2jz swap a 2002 325xi and was wondering what all you guys think of that and some problems that might come with this, also what transmission do you think would be best? I was looking at an Infiniti G37 transmission and make a custom adapter for the 2j because I would prefer paddle shifters or a sequential transmission. I have looked into parts for this like the ecu, wiring harnesses, engine mounts and some other parts for it, over all I'm guessing around 10,000 for this swap. I've heard the transfer case or the front diff is on the 325s oil pan (can't remember which is was) and was wondering if there's a work around with that or just general advice, also I want to keep this awd. Another problem will be the axels and drive shaft. I figured they'd be pretty strong considering it's awd but I wanted to clarify. I will also reinforce the chassis. The overall goal is to have an awd 2jz sleeper, thanks in advance. Jack |

The transfer case bolts up to the side of the pan/engine block. The front axle goes through the oil pan.
I think you'll have a hell of a time making this work, but if you do I'll make popcorn and watch! For the money you're talking about, it's cheaper to start with a BMW S54 engine, swap the pan and case to that engine and mod it.
