330d Auto (M57N ED92 306D2) wiring loom/harness
This is my first post - please let me know if its in the wrong place and I'll move, I could find nothing after doing a few searches... so here goes.
Problem cause: my external ambient temperature sensor is missing, that's to say it has, prior to me owning the car, been completely ripped off the car, and the passenger side (UK spec, left side of car) front part of the inner wing liner is wrecked too - I'm guessing former owner has hit a curb and its been broken and then maybe the wheel drove over the sensor's cable... ripped out and the rest is history.
Possible Solution: Bought a replacement sensor on the web, and also the official BMW repair kit (a big name for what is just a socket and 2 wires, and no instructions!).
My question: The looms/wiring harnesses on E46s seem to vary ALOT, and as such I'm struggling to get any nearer to sorting out my problem. So I think I've got options: (a) solder in the repair kit to the existing loom, but I have no idea which wires to splice into as I can see no broken wires or obvious places to wire too, can any one help?
OR (b) get a replacement section of the wiring harness (2nd hand used probably) and replace the whole section - I've looked at the front left harness and I can't identify its OEM number (possibly 61116947968 ?) but I'm not sure if the sensor wires into this anyway - any suggestions gratefully received.
If anyone can give me any advice here I would be very grateful indeed!
