^All true---but then you have to be a Camaro owner.

2017 BMW M240i 6MT

I was going to suggest a Porsche 997.2, but they're mid-30s at the lowest and really upper 40s.

A 2017 M240i is less than $30k now? Damn...

Some of them appear to be. IDK why. I mean the B58 is a great engine and there's not a new model. Maybe people are pickup up used M2s instead so demand is low?

You know the same is said by others regarding Mustangs, BMWs, Mercs, etc.

Never cared about any stigma associated with a car and find it silly that people still factor this in.

I get it, but you can't deny that certain models just have a universally-accepted connotation.

I mean---I'll speak for myself---part of the reason why I enjoy driving my E46 is because of the image it projects as someone of good taste.

As an enthusiast, when you buy a car, you buy a community as well.

Now, all that said, I still want an NA Miata knowing full well the image that projects to the general public.

Look at that subtle jet-black coloring. The tasteful thickness of it. Oh my God, it even has a 6mt.

Tell your friend not to be a Pu$$y and E39 M5 all day long. Easily under 30K. Daily driving manual monster.

Of course, to each their own. Personally, I just never have (nor ever will) care about these kinds of generalizations.

Stigmas exist for a reason.

He drives a civic Si, previous gen. Not a bad car but not very cool or exciting.

Yep, sure do! I love it. Tried to get him to buy one but he doesn't want the same car.

Come on man you know the rules, you gotta start with S2000, Wrangler, then V12 Benz.

Can he stretch his budget by a few thousand dollars? Mid-30s would get him into a really nice low mileage 911 997.1. I'm a big fan of convertibles, but you can get coupes or cabrios in that range.

I absolutely love mine. I bought a 2S, even though I live in Canada where we get real winters. The RWD versions are more tail happy and fun to drive. the 4/4S is fun, and really planted, but nowhere near as much fun. They don't need any more attention than your typical German car- frequent oil changes, the odd plastic parts that need replacing at that age, and some parts are a bit more expensive- but fun per dollar, 911s are right up there.
