2001 330ci Engine Swap
Hello fellow fanatics ... looking for some input.
Purchased an 2001 330ci with blown engine. I have been on the search for a M54B30 to replace it. Found one that pretty much includes the whole engine compartment including harness, ECU, etc. However it is a 2006 M54B30 .
Will the 06 M54B30 be a pretty much turn key replacement? Wasnt sure due to age differences. Plan would be use existing harness, ECU, etc and implant the donor.
Anything I should be concerned about or any tips related to year differences that any of you have to share? Am I foolish to think it will be a pretty straight forward swap? I have swapped two M54B25 with no issue but first M54B30 I have dealt with.
Any usable feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

BMW used a different valve cover and coil packs after 09/02. Just swap over the valve cover and coil packs from the old engine. Also, since you're dealing with non-xi, BMW switched over to MS45.1 from MS43 in 03/03 so you'll need to swap over the o2 sensors (ms45.1 is wideband, ms43 is narrowband) and the maf is different. Ms45.1 integrated the intake air temperature sensor into the maf whereas ms43 has the sensor in the intake manifold..you could either swap over the intake manifold or find how to "reinstall" the air temp sensor into the intake.
You don't need to swap over the DME or any wiring
Not so complicated install of BMW Tools (Windows XP, 7, and 10)
