Home Warranty

Guys, I have two properties with home warranty but every time you call for service they charged you with $60 trip charge and installation charges in case something needs to be replaced, Im planning to cancel it. Just want to know your opinion about home warranty. Yay or Nay...

Thanks

You need a better warranty. I have had several houses. Some with and some without. The last one had a new home warranty as will the next one. But I did have a buddy that bought a home warranty and didn't get charged the fees for trip charges. And as I recall... He had a water heater and a stove replaced under warranty.

I used be with American homeshield, Allied warranty both have trip charge of $60, what is your home warranty that does not have a trip charge?

Nay. Everything is disposable these days.

The only important home warranty is on a new house.

Most appliances = $500 - $1500
AC repair = $500 unless major and you will screwed with warranty anyway.
Water heater = $500
Plumbing issue = $500 unless major and again you will screwed with warranty anyway.

Of course, it all depends on the cost of the plan and what they really cover.

Most of the plans I have seen advertise to poor people who pay $500 per year just in case.
5 years later, they could have had $3k for an emergency fund.

Since I'm getting a home very soon, I was thinking about a warranty. I just can't think of a great reason for it. I'd get one without appliance coverage (going to get new ones in a year or two). There isn't a single thing it covers that I couldn't live without for a while and save for, but that'd have to be something very expensive.
