m62TUb44 swap to e46 (need anwers)

Hey,
I am thinking of swapping a bigger engine into my e46 318i, I couldn't the M plus it would be boring. So I thought of swapping e39 540i motor (m62tub44 with a manual gearbox) to my e46 sedan...what do you think of that?

I actually got a couple of questions.

- It is easy or should I swap LS1 engine instead?
- Could I add the limited slip differential to any of both engines? if so, what do I actually need from an e46 m3 besides the diff? like rear axle, and that stuff(i actually new to swapping.
- what else do I need beside the front of a donor car (the engine, cooling system, etc..) ?

Thanks in advance!

The m62 is a TERRIBLE engine, it burns oil, hates the cold, and is super complicated. I have a 550i and I hate that engine ( unless I'm running 140 down the highway)

550i has an N62, not the early model M62. LS fits better because of the smaller heads, but I am all for all BMW. Good luck.
