Chevy Blazer: Should You Lease or Buy?

Did you get a good deal on the all-new Blazer? Poor sales have lead to $6000-6,500 back in some cases.

For a sporty mid-size SUV, the Blazer has enough going for it. Performance is where it should be and features enough to keep complaints at bay. Pricing is a different story.

Paying up to $50,000 out the door for the Blazer RS can be steep whether leasing or buying. On the lower end, Blazer L and LS start within the $30k range. Slash off 20% and you can get a similarly configured Equinox. Yes, shopping for a Blazer comes at a premium. If you're willing to accept that fact among the lower trims, the question to lease or buy comes up.

Coming across an actual deal can take work as some Blazer owner and those still shopping have proven. Though, incentives up to $6,500 (RS) in cash have been seen in some cases (at the dealer level). In other situations, the opposite is found - no lease incentives. Poor sales could help see more of the former. Chevy is offering a $2,000 cash allowance that applies to every Blazer trim. Beyond that better deals are likely offered at the dealer level as pressure to move Blazers heat up.

You needed someone to tell you to not buy a Chevy?

Why does it look so squinty? It looks like it just smelled something horrible while standing outside on a bright summer day in a white concrete parking lot.

If they just called it a Camaro SUV, they'd sell the crap out of that hot turd.

Old Blazer was a classic, this thing is an abomination. The new Trailblazer is even more of a joke. It looks like a squinty Jeep Renegade.

The Trailblazer looks more Camaro-esque than the Blazer does.

It is positively silly how many small-midsize crossover/suv things GM is putting out. It would be funny to get their honest take on differentiating one from another, target markets, and why they have so many.

Just from memory, just in the Chevy camp:
1. Trax - the crappiest of crappy crap boxes. Reserved for 80 yr old people whose last GM died before they did and they see the need to keep driving.
2. Equinox - slightly larger crap box for people that should be buying a CRV or Rav4, but want to buy something new that explodes instead
3. Upcoming Trailblazer - Probably the same size as the Equinox....but squinty and sportier looking turd shape. Literally no difference otherwise, I suspect.
4. Blazer - The disappointing son of the legacy Blazer...this is the son wearing skinny jeans and one of those hipster beanies. 1 inch bigger in all dimensions that Trailblazer and Equinox. Somehow they have the balls to ask up to $50k for one of these, which is appaling.
5. Traverse - For people who need a minivan, but love GM build quality. The biggest of the non-truck based crossover turds.
6. Tahoe - Truck based SUV. Laughable cargo space behind the 3rd row, but is at least big enough for full-size adults in all rows. This is the first one on the list that is not completely embarrassing.
7. Suburban - For you, your family, all of your stuff, and enough towing capacity for a bigger camper or large boat. Good tool for those who need it. Hilarious tool for those who do not.

I suppose I'm bored this morning, lol

I never thought I'd see the day where the two cars in our household were domestics. Although, the SS is technically Australian.

I couldn't find a modern BMW that checked all the boxes of price, fun, space, etc.
