It’s entirely subjective. Cry more. But the Supra does use dated design queues similar to the cars of the period.

I liked my E46 looks wise more than my E82 but mine sits pretty nicely with the eibach springs and apex wheels. Looks good.

My Ride: Best M5 ever made
Update on prior examples above:

12K mile E46 M3 Vert = $46,000
14K mile Euro E39 M5 = $47,000
Modified and kitted Blue E30 = $62,500
32k Mile Supra = $84,250

Now that really shows you where the market's at.

A) If you can buy it outright, actually pick the one that will be come wanted, rare and valuable over time, and never actually drive it, you can fetch all your money back and maybe even then some, but not huge profits.
B) You can buy the beater car to build the car of your dreams, but likely may be into it way more than you expected in the end, and will probably fetch all your money back, and maybe even see some profit, but only the best examples will see lots.
C) You can buy a japanese unicorn outright, kinda sorta but never really drive it, then sell it for a MASSIVE profit.

Option C seems to be the one.

And I want this.

"The Rokon Trail-Breaker was designed to get its rider to remote locations where a full-sized vehicle wasn't feasible. Due to the hollow aluminum wheels, the bike will float and can be walked or taken across water. The hollow wheels can also be used to house extra fuel or even drinking water for long excursions. According to the manufacturer, these bikes were able to climb a 60% grade due to the pushing and pulling effects of the driven rear and front wheels."

This is pretty sweet, I used to love the C36/C43 AMG's growing up, the E55 engine swap is a nice bonus:

Cars don't make anyone much money unless they just get to ridiculous prices. His sticker was $40,300 in 1998, which is $63K today, so they only made $22K at most and they had it insured all those years and taking up space and any needed maintenance. They likely made nothing at all on the car. Even if they did realize $22k in profit, it's still an ATROCIOUS investment.

If you put $40K into an S&P500 index fund in 1998, you'd have $167,000 today.

This idiot lost almost $100K in opportunity costs to NOT drive a cool car. Cars that beat out simple investments are extremely rare. As cars go, obviously this supra was better than one that didn't appreciate at all, but he also got next to zero utility out of it from enjoyment or even picking up groceries.

tl;dr buy cars to drive, not to invest. If you're lucky, you might lose less money than another car, but most likely not. And it's certainly not worth saving the miles. The owners of the BMWs you listed lost their asses on keeping those cars and not using them.

Very much agreed. Unless you are swimming in cool cars and unlimited garage/warehouse square footage I can't think of a reason to buy a cool car and not drive it.

The thing is there are a lot of people like this out there, they buy something just to tick it off their list.

I think I posted this before but my parents neighbor bought a Hemi Challenger when they first came out, it showed up on a car carrier, the guy put it in one of his garages for a little over a year never driving it off his property, then sold it and had a car carrier pick it up.

I am guessing he got hosed on the resale price.

You did post that, I think people like that are nuts (or have more money than sense). There is no way in hell I could let a supra TT sit in my garage for 20 years, unless I had something way cooler to drive every day.

I don't get it either, people will also sell off a few cars at a time at a loss to fund a new purchase/project, a lot of people do the same with watches. They just want to say they have owned it, then the next best thing comes along so they dump what they have to move on to the next thing.

The only reason I can think of is to not lose as much money on it. Daily driving a Ferrari would be awesome but you'd get absolutely hosed on resale value. Instead, drive it a few times a month and don't lose as much. You still don't win but you lose less?

100% agree man, 100%.

That being said, here's today's GEM. One of the best color combos for the E39 M5, and pretty low, but driven miles on this one and tasteful mods (except depo headlights), this is a stunner.
