Short shifter install

For those who have a short shift kit. I have a couple questions. I got my short shifter last night and the instructions read that I need to drive the car on ramps or put the front end on jack stands to do the work. Does anyone know if it's possible to install a SSK without jacking up the car. I am keeping the stock selector rod (so it's basically just the shifter that is being swapped) so I am wondering if I can do the swap through the interior instead of having to jack the car up. I don't trust myself under the car! Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

If you have really small arms you could. Otherwise call me, I own a hoist.
