This plastic clip is known to break frequently:
61131387626, it is part #4 here:

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=51_3684

It is up near the top of the door and holds the window regulator upper cable.
You cannot see it, but will have to use your hand to find it and the broken piece should be laying in the door bottom.
I used 3m dum-dum instead of the clip to hold the cable there, but after a couple of years it came free again. Replaced with correct clip and all is good.

The part number I provided is for coupes with a build date 12/2002 and later.
Cars before that date use a different part number, which is smaller in size and break faster. I'm not sure if the later part will fit the earlier coupes.

I caught that. Easy to cross reference through realoem, thank you though!

My Drivers side rattles and I'd sure like to correct that. How many clips per window? RealOEM indicted TWO but I'm not certain if that is for both windows.

I am finally getting fed up with this and just started doing more research yesterday. My right window is doing the same thing, and stops if I lower it slightly. Gonna order that clip since mine was missing last time I was in there. Secured it with a zip-tie but isn't working.

Hello
Hmm.. there was no any broken pieces in door bottom.
You think this broken clip can cause rattling? Is window regulator cable hitting in the window or door when it rattles, or how it exactly make that rattle?

My car is 11/2004 manufactured, so i think i will buy of this number?

Hello
It is between door sheet metals so you cannot film actual change.
You can feel that clip by you hand, and if it is okay or not.

I recommend that you buy that clip from BMW dealer before you open door panel. Then you replace clip if it is faulty.

Success. Today I tore open the passenger door and installed a new clip on the upper cable. I also replaced the white retaining clip on the other cable (part no. 5 on the realoem chart) for the hell of it, new one fits much tighter. Can't believe all that noise was caused by a single missing clip. Thanks guys, didn't know you could buy those separate from the regulator.
