can i use m54 valve cover gasket on m56 valve cover?

I think the m56 uses a metal-base gasket. It's $10 more than a m54 one...

Not sure your source, but fcpeuro.com often has the lowest prices...great delivery...and often options from OE to 'cheaper but perfectly fine.'

In any case, confirm part numbers with realoem.com If the number is the same, you can use the same...otherwise 'probably' not.

M56 gasket is a different number than the M54. 11127521009 is the M56 gasket, 11120030496 is the M54. The M56 spark plug tube seals are a one piece strip, not two sets of three. And yes it is metal and the Elring is about the same price as a Genuine BMW gasket for an M54.

you must use the M56 gasket. its different than the M54 in a few areas.
