Headlights swap with saloon or touring

Hi all,

It's been a while since I posted in this forum, but I just bought a 2002 320CI. Long story short my boss at work caused some damage to it with a forklift, and the drivers side headlight got smashed. Does anyone know if the main headlight assembly is the same as the 4 doors and touring models? I have a set of those here at my shop, but I'm not going to perform any repairs until the insurance claim stuff comes through.

I believe the E36's used the same headlight between coupes and saloons and just the side marker was different, wondering if it's the same case for the E46...

Thanks, Ken

The coupe/convertible share the same headlight assemblies but they are not the same as the sedan/wagon.

For a pre-facelift coupe I think these will be your PN's

You can probably find one in a wrecking yard somewhere for cheap. Or if it's not the entire headlight that is broken you can just buy the lens and some of the other components separately.

+1 for sedan.touring different from coupe.convertible. i have heard some suggest the base assemblies are shared and the lens.turn indicator are the difference but i have only rumor on that. I was able to buy a complete used assembly but xenon units are not cheap..good luck.

Thanks for the responses I've been looking on google images and it looks like the main headlight piece is specific to the coupe/conv. Definitely different than the pre facelift touring xenons I have on a shelf here, and different from the facelift because of the lower trim piece.. Hopefully I can replace just the lense cause the rest of the light looks fine.
