As part of my battle for payment from the insurance company, I built a big spreadsheet that compared ~30 e46 convertibles on the market - 6 manual 330cic, 18 automatic/SMG 330cic and a handful of 325cic. All based on asking price, but I don't see a ton of movement when I talk to sellers.

The net was that there appears to be a ~$1,500 premium for manual, and at 100k miles with sport, premium package and nav a 330ci manual convertible is worth around $6,700-$7,300. Automatic is $5,200-$5,800, and 325ci auto is $5,000ish.

Salvage title is a 30% haircut.

No nav is about $300 cheaper, and extra miles cost or add about $.02 each depending upon if you are over or under 100k

Agree? Disagree? Very loose math, but math nonetheless!
Despite the thread being about 330i, I appreciated the analysis of manual 330cic!

What do you think you should have paid ?

You can find a nice automatic for under $5k
They are very hard to sell.

If I'd have known at the time of purchase everything I discovered over the next several months I'd have offered $3500.

I also discovered after a couple years of ownership it was a "title wash" vehicle from another state. I'd already started down the track car project path by then, but it was still irritating to discover.

There was unreported damage?

I found out the car was a flood salvage.

I bought it in TN and it had a clean TN title. No accidents or major issues according to the owner I purchased from (I didn't run a CARFAX). When I moved to WI a couple years later I registered it there and the WI title lists other states in which the car has been titled. To my surprise, before TN, it was titled in GA and noted as a flood salvage. I'd owned the car for awhile and had started stripping it down for my project so it really didn't matter at that point.

It does, however, explain why I was finding random bits of straw and grass under carpet and seats and under body panels as I stripped it down.

At least $2K too expensive, IMO. Nice color combo but no ZSP, heated seats or xenons. The clear corners aren't stock either.

Oxford green 6-speed in NJ? Really surprised dmax isn’t all over this gem!

Year: 2004

Also the steering wheel looks off as well it looks like it is from the newer 2007 models.

Did u notice the super rust on the hood latches that gives me a bad feeling for a car with only 105k.

My 04 with 190k does not look like that.

That steering wheel is correct. It could have been replaced of course, but my car came with that variety installed (I'm the original owner).

Its definitely a little high, but I actually like the non-ZSP seats better. Lack of xenons and heated seats hurts it though.

Way overpriced. Just the dealership using a low mileage manual and thinking its worth the premium. No sport package, no real packages to speak of honestly, just a base 330i.

I agree.

It's getting harder and harder to find a 330i that is owned by a mature owner.

Yep; about the only thing it actually does have is the H/K system. Other than that it's a "stripper" 330.

You have to get lucky...

I picked up a 330 (not ZHP) in Late FEB for 6k with 77k, 6spd but it had some issues that the dealer wanted to avoid having to fix.

They asked 9k for it and I got it for 6k because of the usual suspect issues we all have dealt with. Cooling System, DISA, OFHG, Headlight wires, headliners, sunroof shade, etc... The car RAN great, drove great so I am happy with the deal.

I have a 2004 and wanted a low mileage e46 to keep instead of dropping 30k on a current model with all the crap on it.

I have spent the last 2 months doing it with the parts I had at home from the 2004 which is going to the college graduate and staying in the family.

I had been looking for about a year and this one fell in my lap and I pulled the trigger the next day. Keep looking since there may be a diamond in the ruff or you can get them to drop the price based on your evaluation of the vehicle.

Those diamond in the rough deals are better suited for experienced DIY E46 owners.

For everyone saying overpriced, please post an ad for sale of a $5k manual 330i with only 100k miles that is not a clapped out rice turd. These cars are getting rare.
