I believe it's written on one of the corners of the Pibus board.

Pete, is it worth removing the resistor anyway as a preventative?

Thanks

One would guess Pete is smart enough to have it printed on the board. In remembering mine had 2.0 printed in it.

hello

I can not speak English well. Understand me.

I have a question on this product, My car is a Euro 2004 E46 325ci convertible.

It is equipped with on-board.

However, it is not equipped with a TV tuner so.

If not equipped with a TV tuner,

Can not install PiBUS?

I want to just install PiBUS, TV tuner does not have

Is there any way?

Answer please. Thank you.

Have a nice day.

Hi junjinpan,
just to avoid misunderstandings:
You cannot install PiBus on its own, you need a Raspberry Pi together with the PiBus interface.

The Raspberry is a computer so the question is, can you run a computer without a monitor? Somehow you'll have to interact with the media-center software that runs on the Pi so typically it will be necessary to see the output of the Pi. The only way to make the outputs visible on the screen of your e46 is to use the video module.

Merely technical the answer should be yes, it's possible to install the Pi in your car without having a video (TV) module.
Maybe the following setup works:
If you manage to install a WLAN Stick and a VNC server on the Pi it could be possible to connect to the Pi from a smartphone using a VNC client. You would then see the video output of the Pi on the smarthone.
I've never had the chance to test this, it's just an idea.

Cheers -- Markus

I wonder if this would make a good case for pibus?
http://www.pishop.co.nz/RPI-VESA-1.html

I was thinking the posts on the side could be extended to make room for the pibus addon. Plenty of air circulation but some protection for the kit.

Yeah could work, bit pricey though. I used a $4 one from ebay and left the lid off, but needed to make a few small cuts in it for cables:

Maybe, it could make it slightly more reliable.

P.S. Only 3 HiFi boards left.

While I await the arrival of my pibus I have installed openelec 4.0.7 on my Rpi to try it out, I haven't used XBMC on the pi since I first got it.

I thought I'd try out your enhanced (or is that dehanced?) theme and followed the instructions. However it does not show up as an available skin in XBMC when I go to settings|appearance|skin.

I suspect this is possibly something to do with your skin not being gotham compatible or something. I note that the default skin (confluence) has this in the addon.xml file:

import addon="xbmc.gui" version="5.0.0"

Whereas your skin the version is 4.0.0

No big deal, just thought I'd mention it. Wondered too if a more suitable theme might be one of those developed for tablets like Touched or reTouched.

The new Raspberry Pi model B+ is incompatible with the Pibus, so if you're going to buy, now is a really good time.

I've been told the existing Model B will be no longer available soon too.

There is no composite video out for a start, only HDMI now. And the mounting holes appear to have moved too.

Oh and for those of you going for the Hifi Pibus, the P5 header is no longer in the same place

I googled and I now see what you mean, but it also appears that this new device appeared on an online site for an hour or so and hasn't been seen since. I cannot see any announcement from the foundation itself. It would seem extraordinary if the foundation were to throw out the old design, given the ecosystem that has built up around the particular form factor. The number of addon kits that marry up to the present form factor is enormous.

Not only the hifi pibus, but also the hifiberry dac, the hifiberry digi, just to name two I have looked at in the last few days. But yeah, I'll get my new B for this project as soon as possible.

It is being announced tonight 9:00pm NZ time apparently. A local reseller of Pi's announced it on his website this morning and then he was asked to remove it after he tweeted the link.

Yeah taking a closer look those news reports were all in the last few days.

I see that there is speculation that the 3.5mm plug was marked A/V and may indeed have compsite video still included, just a different connector.

Hadn't noticed you were also in NZ! Greetings KIWI.

It's announced, and does retain composite video. Different connector though, and the form factor will make it not exactly plug and play with addons like the pibus. Glad I have bought my pibus as well as two model B's today. Thanks for the heads up.

In their announcement page they also say they'll keep producing the Model B, so no drama. The new version is physically neater, but no extra megabytes or MHz

I wonder how good the new audio circuit is, it can't rival the PCM5102 DAC in any event.

Silly question time, I've just received my Pibus back after having a buddy who can actually solder put it together.

I don't seem to have received a GPIO header 'extension' from my kit (so the Pibus and the Pi can join and clear the ethernet/USB ports), would one of these do the trick and will it be high enough?

http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/stacking-h...berry-pi-a80qn

Thanks

Ah really, sure your buddy didn't loose it? I thought I was quite careful with that, but I guess it's possible.

Yes that part is fine, less pins is fine too e.g 2x8. And make sure you plug that header in before soldering, so you can gauge the height needed.
