Bavsound Stage One vs. Stock HK

Is there a noticeable difference between the Bav Stage One system & the stock Harman Kardon? Is the Stage One an upgrade, the same, or worse?

Thank you,

Just installed Bav Audition Stage 1 into my e46 330ci vert (without replacing factor sub in ski-pass).
Mids and Highers are noticibly more in your face and the tweeters have a much higher frequency response being nice silk domes

Overall midbass is not exciting like a amped set of 2-way components would be on ~50-75watts, but they get down and play the notes without distortion and even at high volumes.

As you turn up the system, it gets loader to a point where mids and highs get ear piercing but the mode of 'you turned it too high' is a slow roll-on of distortion.
Being the OE amp is rated for power @ 10% THD, don't expect miracals ; J

Everyone who hears it thinks it sounds great but lacks subwoofer bass.
I think with top down is where it really shines and mids cut through wind like nothing..

If I were to ask for more, I would amp the mids on all four ends and get a sub for the ski-pass. I am entertaining a IDMAX 10 + ~600 watts IB in the trunk, no box

Thank you,

Brand new speakers are of course gonna sound better than a crappy old HK setup.

My opinion tho.. not worth it. Yes it replaces every speaker in the car but you dont that many speakers.

Get a nice front sound stage. Look into 6.5 components that come with tweeters , midbass and crossovers.

Then get a subwoofer to fill in the rear sound stage and low end notes.

Get amplifiers for both or one that can handle the components and sub. Get the E46 Technic Harness to simplify the install and have a nice aftermarket sound system.
