Help with vacuum

Hi all

Iím at a loss with my car and Iím so fed up Iíll probably convert it back to N/A and sell the blower.

Since fitting the Supercharger my oil consumption has increased to 1 litre in approx 300 miles, there are no leaks from the sump, dipstick, OFHG or valve cover. The car shows -10psi at idle which indicates vacuum but obviously on boost itís +ve 5psi so no vacuum.

As the engine is an M54B30 it needs a vacuum to seal the rings. When it was N/A it used oil around 1litre per 2500 - 3000 miles.

I have asked the manufacturer in Germany but they donít even understand the term CCV or PCV so they canít help, not much help from the supplier in the UK and Iíve tried the various forums to no avail.

It appears I have a problem that no one else has ever had, I know I can pour oil into it but thatís only masking the problem not finding a solution.

Has anyone else fitted a centrifugal supercharger to an M54B30? What is the oil consumption? What is the CCV/PCV/catch can setup?

Thanks

Is your vacuum measured in PSI or inches of Hg? If you're actually measuring in PSI then disregard as that's about right. If in hg, I'd say you have a vacuum leak which could possible be from a failed CCV causing the oil consumption. The car should pull more like 20-22 in hg at idle.

How is the CCV set up and what kit are you running? I have an AA level 2 kit and did not like how the CCV was setup. I noticed A LOT of oil was being redirected to the intake and then through the blower (not ideal). Not sure if my CCV failed as a result of the install, or if it was just boost related in some way, but I deleted the system for a catch can and no longer spew oil into my blower.

I would look into a possible failure or incorrect routing of your CCV and maybe try deleting the system for a catch can.
