Oh, right, I missed that, the 85mm is for the regular TS2, the TS2+ is supposed to have the 83mm (used to ship with the 81mm).

I know for a fact I hqve 85mm pulley, its stamped right on. I should've got the ts2+ kit, I've done a lot to this engine and its running strong, cool, and leak free (for Now) im going to hook up a boost gauge soon to see what boost I'm running. Just waiting to hear back from AJ. To much shady things going on, I'm not liking it. Any of you guys go and takr the tune further? Got more performance out of a custome dyno tune? Or was the map supplied optimal? I want to toy around with some more boost, and 75mm should peak at 12psi?

I ran with a 78mm pulley for some time. Not too sure if you are going to need to change injectors to run a 75mm pulley though.

My last setup was with lower compression, 42lb injectors, and 65mm pulley on 98 octane.

The ESS file is ms430056, so there are xdf's for tuning.

If I had have stayed with the standard ESS setup and MS43, I would have converted to a HPX maf and further custom tuned.

Edit: Would also recommend you don't play with pulley swaps without a good Wideband and logging capabilities.

42lb injectors arent hard to come by. Green top bosch right? I dont, I'm lying, want to crack into the engine and start swapping internals just yet. I need to learn how to handle the car before I just start pulling boat loads of torque. I think thatll be a good place for me to start. 78mm, then I can swap to the 75mm and see how that works on a dyno. You're the man.

Good news, ESS remedied the goof up and are sending out a pulley asap. They've been pretty good thus far. Hey davew, did you say you ran 78mm pulley on stock tune? Im going to shy away from trial and error for now until I get the car more finished. Random things like boost and afr need to be installed. I want to learn how to adjust launch control parameters and such first, tune the driver.

I did run a 78mm pulley with the ESS TS2+ tune. ESS do not recommend this by the way. I went from what was at the time standard 81mm TS2+ pulley to 78mm.

Did you see or notice any adaptation issues? This may be a good option to safely go from daily driver to track days as long as the fuel and trim is consistent. I dont know too many people with e46, unfortunately, but I would imagine these engines can handle a good amount of boost safely, the dme is sophisticated enough for the user to adjust parametets to pull even more. Alum block being the weak link.

I did full logs and sent them also to ESS as a sanity check, all was good. This has a lot to do with how ESS set up their tune file. Their only advice was that if I did any more upgrades, I would need bigger injectors as I had them very close to their limit.

79mm pulley and stock tune here, no issue

What’s the smallest pulley I can run on my twinscrew?

I have a 330ci with automatic transmission and roughly 70k miles.

Lots of good info in this thread, read all 12 pages. I'm actually not sure what size pulley is on my TS. How is this measured? OD of the belt grooves? Mine is supposed to have a 14.5psi pulley on it but I typically see ~16psi when I drive it up to around 6k rpm, which honestly isn't very often. The acceleration is amazing. It isn't stamped so I think it's a custom from a supplier other than ESS.

Did you convert to MS43? Those are TS3 level pullies and I thought there wasn't any TS3 software for the MS45.1, which the ZHP has.

Pullies are measured based on the OD of the bottom of the groove valleys, if I remember right... Sorry its been a while

No sir, this is the TS3 car that I purchased last year that Stuart looked over for me. It's a 325Ci that had been converted to M54B30, along with a ton of motor work. Suffice it to say it's a 330Ci? It is MS43. Sorry, I should have been more clear.

I may possibly be selling the rolling chassis of the 325Ci and keep the engine out of it, I got a smoking deal on the car that I couldn't pass up, and really bought it for the engine. I've considered keeping the TS3 engine on my stand in the shop, remove the TS unit and install on my ZHP. Obviously with a smaller pulley, which size that is, I don't really know. But reading through this thread probably 83mm? Could save the engine in case the ZHP engine gives out, but who knows if or when that'll happen. And if it did, as you said there's no TS3 software available for MS45.1. Not even sure if George could do it?

I could sell the TS3 car and just buy a TS2 and install in ZHP, just kinda silly if there's no interest in it and I have a TS unit on hand, albeit a high boost one.

Anyone have any input?

The TS3 will have mods to the pistons to lower compression. Also, the TS3 has no software for the MS45.1 cars (ZHP is MS45.1), only MS43 cars.

The TS2 will not have any internal engine mods. The TS2+ adds different cams, still no internal engine mods. There is software available for the TS2 and TS2+ for MS45.1 (however I will debate anyone who thinks its good software until my car finally drives the way I think it should).

George doesnt want to touch MS45.1, he would ask you to convert to MS43.

You can move that TS3 blower and intercooler over to the ZHP, you would just need a larger pulley to lower the boost (such as an 81 or 83mm) and software for the MS45.1.

What would be really awesome is if you found a tuner that could get the MS45.1 tuned for the TS3 power output levels

Hi guys!

What is the smallest pulley to safely run on stock M54B30 engine? Stock cams, SS headers. Need to mention that I have TS1 SC without intake air cooling, but I'm planning to install water/methanol/vodka injection instead of laminova cores cooling.
