found - SUFT015 - E46/E90 lowering spring seats (drop hats)
i am looking for these SUFT015 lowering spring seats. from other posts here i think they were originally designed for E90. but i am going to be using to lower an E46xi. it seems the new ones are black coated but the old ones were chrome.

i installed these ‘suft015’ spring seats with the factory springs on the 2005 xi and very happy with the result.
as others suggested they redress the ‘reverse rake’ issue with the e46 xi (front end was a bit too high, exacerbated by new front struts) and they provide a very slight lowering of the front end fender gap (about an inch). they even out the look of the car and slightly improve handling. with the wider (225-45-17) tires, they do not seem to negatively affect braking. i am hoping there is less risk of axle or cv boot problems with this setup/tweak as opposed to lowering springs or coilovers, but time will tell.
