I have exactly this setup. Electric seats with memory and
power folding mirrors w/o memory. I have the memory modules to put in doors,
but the problem is that my mirrors have the 6-pin connector (black, black,
green, red, gray, none) and the button is exactly equal to the Marek555
(white, with two 6-pin connections) and the memory modules are for
12-pin connector (coming from the mirror), and for buttons with only one 6-pin connection (which connects to memory module).

So far with my research, I realized that the module behind the glovebox and
their respective installation, are no longer needed. And the WDS has not helped very much...

You can convert a 6-pin mirror to 12 pin? (in this case, I'm starting to think that there are specific mirrors for memory, with different hardware inside)

Has anyone done this modification / installation?

Wow!
So there is a fifth mirror configuration where the car comes with Memory/Electric Seats but NON-Memory Power Fold Mirrors and a white back Power Fold Switch?!

Sorry but this is new to me.

I guess you would need a new mirror and mirror modules for the doors. I think the mirrors that have memory have the feature bound inside the mirror housing motor. The mirrors that don't have memory have the feature bound in the glovebox ECU.

Here is a contrast between the non-memory and memory folding mirror wiring and connectors.

Here is a contrast between the gear from memory mirrors and non-memory mirrors.

Here you see the memory of the mirror is wrapped up between the mirror and in-door modules.

I previously thought they were only four E46 Power Folding Mirror Factory Sedan/Touring/4-Door Vehicle Configurations.

1. 9/1998 - 3/2003 : memory-fold mirrors with purple back switch + two R+L in door modules

2. 9/1998 - 3/2003 : NON-memory fold mirrors with yellow back switch + one glove box module

3. 3/2003 - 5/2006 : memory-fold mirrors with purple back switch and ribbons connectors
or
4. 3/2003 - 5/2006: NON-memory fold mirrors with yellow back switch ribbon connectors

Before the E46 9/1999 production date the mirrors were different according to the P/N database data.
So your mirrors are in fact completely different from the sets after 9/1999 and 3/2003.

is it possbile to convert cars post 03/2003 currently with ribbon connectors to a 12 pin type connector? if i buy the mirror module would that do the trick?

i have the the switch with purple back, i have the powerfold mirrors bnib with 12 pin connector... the internals can not be chagned as these mirrors are aftermarket EVOII from Danmark.

It would be rather difficult. Quite a bit of wiring, and some coding with NCS expert. Seat module might have to be replaced too

just to throw this out there, I have an e46 330 04 with folding mirrors, the only thing that works on mine is the reverse tilt and the power folding by holding the lock button down on the key. the switch does not work and I cannot adjust either mirror - I have tried a new switch.

I don't have modules behind the door cards so im a bit stuck.

The codes on DIS are:

Potentiometer, drivers mirror, horizontal (Static fault)

&

Potential, drivers mirror, vertical (Static fault)

& LIN bus, no response, drivers mirror (sporadic fault)

Does this basically mean the motor has gone? - if so, why would the passenger side not work with the switch, and why would the drivers mirror fold?

Any ideas anyone please?

What you have done is put the post-3/2003 ribbon motor inside an aftermarket mirror unit on a pre-3/2003 car (correct me if I have that wrong) which is why there is no real answer for what you have unless you go into the dealership and see if you can get that Frankenstein-of-a-mirror properly programmed to auto-fold.

By the way, what switch did you have for it?

LOL. Really? Because someone is selling them on eBay as Auto-Folding mirrors. LOL! Someone is about to get scammed on those.
