widescreen nav - screen blank but backlit

Anybody seen this before, the screen is backlit but remains black. I tried replacing the screen of the nav system, same problem.
The radio and all function, but the screen is black with a backlight no matter what.

Oh, and before anybody suggests it I've already tried leaving the battery disconnected for a long time.

The electronix that “drive” the screen have stopped working. Try disconnecting the battery cables (negative first), shorting the 2 cable connectors together for 10 minutes and reconnecting them (negative last).

Pulled it apart, blown fuse on circuit board of in-car unit was the answer.
